2023 Election process

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:

The Fire District's Administration Office is responsible for issuing, mailing, and processing absentee ballots. Any qualified voter unable to vote due to the following reasons may obtain an Absentee Ballot.

  • Illness or physical disability
  • Absence from town during all election hours
  • Religious beliefs forbidding secular activity on election day
  • Serving as an election official at a polling place other than their own
  • Active service in the Armed Forces

How to apply - Applications for absentee ballots can be obtained from the Administration Office in person or our website   http://cromwellfd.com/pdf/election-forms/application-for-absentee-ballot.pdf . Any qualified voter already out of town may have an application mailed to them. However, you must allow sufficient time for receiving and returning the application and the ballot. 


Can I vote absentee?

All registered voters in the town of Cromwell orany citizen of the United States of the age of eighteen years or more who, jointly or Individually is liable to the District for taxes assessed against him/her on an assessment of not less than one thousand dollars ($1,000) on the last-completed grand list of the District.

Are you an active member of the armed forces of the United States?

Will you be out of town during all the hours of voting on Election Day?

Does illness prevent you from voting in person on Election Day?  

Do your religious beliefs prevent you from performing secular activities like voting on Election Day?

Will you be performing duties as an election official at a polling place other than your own during all the hours of voting on Election Day?

Do you have a physical disability that prevents you from voting in person on Election Day?

If you answered yes to any of the above questions, you are eligible to vote absentee.

How do I vote absentee?

For the Cromwell Fire District Election held on  Monday, October 2nd, 2023, please use the Application for Absentee Ballot:

  • Submit BALLOTS no later than;
    • Mailed Applications must be received by no later than Friday,  September 29th, 2023;
    • In Person Applications must be received by no later than Monday, October 2nd, 2023 12:00 PM;
