Chip Darius

Fire District Commissioner candidate Chip Darius has raised his family in Cromwell, living in town for 28 years. Chip is founder and president of Safety Priority Consultants, LLC, a consulting and training firm that provides occupational safety & health, OSHA compliance, risk management, and legal expert witness services. Safety Priority has worked with utility, construction, manufacturing, and fire/rescue/EMS/law enforcement clients throughout the United States and internationally. Marla Darius, Chip's wife, is a registered nurse. They have five children.

Chip has experience with issues affecting utility and emergency service operations. He has been a safety consultant and trainer to The Metropolitan District (MDC) for over 20 years, and to the Norwalk 2nd Taxing District (South Norwalk Electric & Water) for over 10 years, as well as to other water, wastewater, and electric utilities. He holds the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) designation.

Chip has also been a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for 41 years. He is currently active as a volunteer with Cromwell Fire Department, serving as an EMT, Fire Police, and Health & Safety Advisor. He is a certified Health & Safety Officer through the Connecticut Fire Academy, and is a member of the National Association of Public Safety Infection Control Officers. He has served the CFD in the past, from 1990-2004, holding EMS positions of Captain, Lieutenant, Crew Chief, and Training Officer. Chip oversaw the implementation of AEDs in the department. He is a former EMS Instructor and former certified Emergency Medical Dispatcher, and has been a Life Member of Cromwell Fire Department since 2003.

Chip is looking forward to helping the Cromwell Fire District provide professional, efficient, safe, and cost-effective water and emergency services.
